I have been hoping to make a belly cast, since I saw one on here. This has been a rough few months, and I really want something that will help me remember this time a little more positively. So I went and got all the stuff to make a belly cast a few weeks ago and asked SO to help me make one two weeks ago, a week ago, yesterday, and this morning. He keeps saying he will help, but when I asked him to do it today (what I've been wanting to do all along), he said "I'll get to it"
This is the same thing he said about naming the baby, 5 MONTHS ago. He still refuses to discuss names with me, but somehow has the idea that he gets to be the one to name the baby without me getting any say! He also promised I wouldn't have to go through this pregnancy alone, 9 months ago. What a load!
Sooo, he's made me 3 promises and broken 3 promises. Nice track record. He is still sitting here saying he will help me do the belly cast when he feels like it, and like the name and me not going through this alone, I don't believe him anymore. If I want a belly cast, I have no choice but to do it alone. But the stuff was expensive, and everything I read says you need a helper. I have no one else around that I would let help because of the nudity involved.
Here's my question: Has anyone ever done one alone and had it turn out all right? I don't want the supplies to go to waste. I tried doing my toes and wiggling them a little while it dried, and it seemed ok when it was done, but I only get one chance. Would you do this alone? Or hope he pulled his head out of his *** and helped? The track record here is pretty bad... Anyone who may have done one, please let me know if doing it alone would be a terrible idea, or if I should go ahead and try? Thanks in advance to anyone who might have a helpful opinion!

I say go for it on your own. Better to try & have it come out a little iffy than miss out on doing your belly cast because he won't cooperate.
I hope he will come around soon - from the things you've posted I wouldn't be at all happy w/ him by now!

I did one of mine onmy own because dh was deployed. It turned out pretty good. I still need to make some repairs to it because it cracked during the move. Ebay has a really nice kit for about 20.00. It got to Japan in about 10 days so you might want to check it out.

Go ahead and try it on your own. It least you will have tried it. Don't forget to put petroleum jelly all over your skin where you plan to cast. I've heard it can be painful if you do forget.

OMG!!!! After pitching a big fit about this all day today, he finaly helped me today!! I was crying about it and he said "well you better go get the stuff ready" and I did. So he helped make the cast, but didn't seem very happy about it. When we were done, I jumped right into the shower, and when I got out, he was still working on it! I am soooo surprised! He is still in the kitchen 'perfecting' it. Now I wanna cry cuz I'm so surprised he actually did what he said he would! Thanks for the advice, but I guess for once I complained too soon! I am in shock that he finally did what he said he would! It makes me really happy, now instead of being 0 for 3 on his promises, he's 1 for 3. 1 is better than nothing, right? Yaaaaay!

AND I just want to give you a . My ex was never really involved in my other pgs. unless I made him and it just sucks. It can be so lonely. I'm sorry you have to deal with this crap, no woman let alone a pg woman should have to deal with that. BTW he actually is the one with NO say in naming the baby if you choose it that way, and also he has NO say if he is even there when you deliver if that's your choice. So I guess what I'm saying is he better get off his a$$ and start treating you like the princess you are . OK off my now. s

LOL!! He comes home for his breaks since he just works across the alley from our house, and he just took the belly cast to work to show off! He's such a sweetie sometimes. Just stubborn, I guess. but I think it's so cute he took it to work!
