My Aunt Marla had a bad car wreck yesterday! She ran up under an 18 wheeler and they had to "cut" her out of the car. They medflighted her here to the hospital and things just arent looking so great.
Part of her is in a "partial coma" and the other part of her they are keeping completly sedated for now. Her bones in her face are broken, her hand, and fingers are really bad messed up. They still dont know all the damage done especially everything internally!
The dr. told my Uncle that his gut feeling is that she will make it, but it is going to take a LONG time to recover from something like this.
Aunt Marla is in a full Deep Coma that she put herself in, (not from meds). Her main artery in her left side of her brain is completly severed (only a piece smaller than a thread is hanging on) so that means no blood flow, and she will have brain damage especially to that left side (which they dont know how extensive yet) but pretty bad. Things arent looking optimistic for her at all anymore. She has not made any changes what so ever.
The movement that she was doing last week (thats why they thought "partial coma") was actually not her moving, it was movement from multiple strokes she was having. Both eye sockets and both cheek bones are broken and she will be completly blind in atleast one of her eyes and they are not sure about the other one yet. Atleast 1 whole and 1/2 of her fingers were ripped off. and They are not sure how many of the others they will be able to save. They had to drill a hole in her head to release pressure and they say as long as the pressure stays below 20 then that is "ok" well it was down to 9 but was back up to 17 the other night. And they had to drain fluids off her stomach. That is all I know for now.
The Dr. did call my Uncle in and kind of prepare him, explained everything to him, things just arent looking good at all, and she needs all the prayers she can get. Thank you.
It's never to late! Thank you, she continues to need as many people to pray for her as possible. There hasnt been much change. Although one good change is that she started to try to breath on her own, so for now she's off the respirator and on full oxygen but they have to keep it at 100% b/c she's not breathing on her own well enough. She's still in a full coma and they arent sure if she will ever wake up or not, and if she does, she may not remember anything/anybody. She may not be able to see, talk, eat, walk, anything. So please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers, along with her family. Thank you very much.
Thanks for all the prayers you guys! She is now out of her coma but she is in a complete vegetative state. She may always be like a vegetable. We are still giving her time and God time to work his miracle! Please continue to pray for her. The doctors feel a little more comfortable to perform the operation on reconstructuring her face. They will do this on Friday as long as nothing changes. They are actually hoping that by doing the surgery it will change her state a little. Thanks for all the prayers, Marla and the family continue to need them.
