We are home! We came home yesterday around 11:00. Audrey is a little jaundice so I have been busy getting her lab work done. It looks like she will be fine, the last check is on Sunday so I will know soon. Audrey is perfect. I can't get enough of my little girl, she is so sweet and cuddly.
I will try and tell you the details, if I have time to get through it anyway. I went in for my 39 week appointment Tuesday at 3:00. The nurse called me back right away, never happens that way, and tells me Burgett will be right in. Burgett came in about 2 minutes later, and checks me for change. I am a good 3 cm and 50% effaced!!!!! I told Burgett I had contractions Monday night, but when I got up Tuesday they went away. I asked about being induced, and he says Intermountain Medical Center sucks to get an elective induction scheduled. I wanted to cry, but at least I had progress. Dr. Burgett asks if I want to do a NST, and maybe find a reason to go to the hospital. Of course I loved the idea so we changed rooms. I was hooked up to the machine, and left alone for 20 minutes. I was feeling contractions, but nothing very painful. Dr. Burgett came in and mentioned the contractions, and asked if I wanted to be checked again and my membranes stripped. I agreed and was given a chance to change again. Burgett came back and said " get ready for the meanest exam you have ever had". I am now 4 cm and 60%, that was before my membranes were stripped!!! He was successful at stripping my membranes, and mentions he may see me later at the hospital. I couldn't even get out the door, my back was hurting so bad. Burgett offered to take me to the hospital. I live across the street so I knew I could make it. I got home from my appt at 4:30, and called Dave 15 minutes later. The contractions were only 3-5 minutes apart, and getting really strong. Dave got home around 5 and we grabbed a few things and then left. We got to IMC around 5:45 PM and I was 5 cm and admitted. The nurse called my doctor and the drug man right away. I was given the epidural 10 minutes later, and the wait began. My water broke just before the medication kicked in, I can't believe how much fluid I had. I was checked a couple times and had more progress each time. Around 9:45 I called my nurse and said I was ready to push. She checks me and said " don't move, resist pushing so Burgett can get here in time." He showed up around 10:20, and I started pushing. It took 2 contractions and 6 pushes and she was out! I think I pushed for like 10 minutes tops! Audrey arrived at exactly 10:52 PM, 6lbs 1oz, 19.5 inches long. She wasn't doing well at first, her apgar was 6, she was blue and not breathing. It took a couple minutes, but we heard her cry. Her second apgar was 9 so she is fine. The placenta came out with no pushing, and I only needed 3 stitches.
