Default Washing diapers...

SoI have ordered my cloth diapers. Now here is my new question. When I wash them what do I wash them in? I have a front loader washer, so you cant use just any detergent. Do any of you ladies have front loaders? What do you wash your diapers in??

Lurking as well... I would check out diaperswappers.com they have a lot of great info for cloth diapering. Remember to use extra rinse cycles especially with Front loaders or you will have stink issues. I learned that the hard way. GL!

I don't have a front loader (wish I did!) but was told to use a soap that didn't have fragrance in it. We use Allen's Nautral soap.

We do a cold rinse with no soap, hot wash with soap and an extra rinse.

Good luck with the CD's... we love them!

I have a frontloader as well and I use Seventh Generation detergent. One thing to remember is that you don't need to use that much detergent. I use half of the recommended amount. If you use too much you will get buildup in your diapers and that can cause your little one's bum to get a rash. I do a hot/cold wash with and extra rinse and sometimes another rinse if I'm waiting on the dryer. So far so good!

We used dreft when I CD'd Maya. And we'd do a rinse in cold, wash in hot/cold and an extra rinse. Seemed to do the job. Also, line drying in the sun bleaches out stains. Either dry them first and put them out, or pop them in the dryer for a few minutes after you bring them in to soften them up.

I don't have a front load washer...maybe someday

We use Charlie's Soap on our BumGenius diapers. Cold wash with 1/8 cup of soap powder, Hot wash with 1/8 cup of soap powder, extra rinse and then dry on low. I also add bleach to the hot wash about once per month.

My general understanding of washing cloth is to avoid any detergents with additives and softeners as they add a residue on the diapers that make them less absorbant.

Good Luck and welcome to cloth diapering
