A little upset that...
I stopped Bfing. I wish I had just pumped when I was taking my meds and thrown it out instead of stopping. I dont know why but the last week I have been really upset about not being able to BF Logen. Its been almost 2 months since I stopped and I regret it big time!!
On a brighter note....
Logen is 3 months old today!!

Re: A little upset that...
I understand. I only pump but will stop in August before I go back to work. I just can't manage pumping with teaching...my days aren't always the same and I don't always get a break. So I will stop and will feel like I'm not providing for him a little bit.

Yeah, I stopped at 6 weeks, and when 4 weeks later, my milk still was not completely gone, I was wishing I could do something so I could feed her again. Hang in there momma, you'll be okay.

Re: A little upset that...
You know, it's not unheard of to re-lactate. Do you have access to a La Leche League there? From what I've read in their book, you go ahead and start offering the breast as often as possible and when they're done, then you give them the formula and over time you are giving them less and less formula and more milk. You can also talk to your dr. about specific medications that help boost your milk supply, there are also herbs, too.
If you wish you hadn't stopped nursing, then go ahead and give re-lactating a try. It's only been 2 months, the milk doesn't just dry up overnight. It will take some work in the beginning, though and remember, the more they suck, the more they demand.
I would recommend reading their book, "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding", at a minimum and attending meetings, if possible.
Good luck!

Re: A little upset that...
I was also going to suggest that you contact the LLL and see if you can get your supply back.
I am sorry that you had to stop BF and hope that you are able to find away to start back up.

Re: A little upset that...
I know it is hard. When I dd was 4 months old I stopped and missed it so much. This time around I am still trying to hang in there. It is hard when work gets in the way. I agree with the other ladies. If you want to continue maybe just nursing at night might be enough for you. Good luck. I really hope you find peace with it either way.

Lurking...
A mom on our November 07 board relactated after never bf'ing. She did this when baby was about 4 months old and had some success. It is a lot of work but it can be done if you are interested. You may or may not build up a big enough supply to just bf but you might be with a ton of persistence.

Good luck. Any bm is a great thing so focus on what you have already given him.

Re: A little upset that...
I share your pain. I stopped breastfeeding Boston at 3 weeks after a horrific experience with Mastitis and two rounds of antibiotics. I soooo regret stopping now. I feel like I could've stuck it out longer. I miss the closeness and the bond we had when breastfeeding.
I am starting the process of relactating. Some of the tips I did see included: lots of skin-to-skin contact, eating oatmeal, drinking lots of water, taking fenugreek and blessed thistle, and offering the breast to baby even before your milk returns. We're gonna take a bath together tonight so we can have some quality skin-to-skin time.
LLL has a meeting tomorrow and I hope to get some good advice. I will definitely share the info with you.

Re: A little upset that...
A good supplement to try is Mother's Milk tea. It has the Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle. I had some issues with supply when I was in the hopital. My meds caused me to almost completely dry up, but the tea helped regain my supply. If you regret it, go ahead and give it another try. If it doesn't work out, he's already on the formula anyway, so no harm done there. Good luck mama!

Re: A little upset that...
There are definitely ways to build up your milk supply if you want to try bf'ing again. I didn't stop, but my milk supply was really low, so my doctor recommended malt products. A can of beer (one per day, two hours before nursing), malted oatmeal, or something like that. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me, so I had to go on medication to build my supply. But maybe it will work better for you!
Good luck!
