Default Got my IUD in today.. my experience.

Hey everyone, well here's my experience. Hope everyone is doing well!

Today was my "6 week" checkup even though it's really 8wks. My Dr had hip surgery so I was bumped back.

I had the IUD put in and so far so good I guess. I am breastfeeding and my Dr told me it was fine to get the Mirena IUD. I've been hesitant about though since it sounds like a scary thing with all I've been reading but its been fine so far.

They wanted me to come in when I was menstrating.. done, started this past Monday with one of my heaviest periods ever and my first real one post baby. I signed some release form and they brought out this long box that said Mirena on the outside. They showed it to me before they put it in and it's tiny but connected to this long gun looking thing with a handle etc. The nurse showed me that he won't be sticking all the way but only up to a certain point which wasn't too bad.. He used his papsmear tools, you know.. the lovely gun looking thing that clicks girlfriend open... and some sort of numbing spray was sprayed on which didn't hurt or anything. Then he told me I'll feel some pressure which wasn't that bad and was just a second or so and then he said it was in. I guess the next thing was checking it, cutting that string from what I've read they have to do and then cleaning me up because I was on my period of course. So it didn't take long at all. I thought I'd feel something but I didn't feel a thing. He prescribed an antibiotic and told me to come back in 2 weeks to check on it. I've been waiting to have some cramps but so far nothing. It's like I had nothing done. Of course it's only been around 10 hours since it was put in so I'll see how it goes for the next few days. He told me not to use tampons for a week and that it works right away so I could test drive it tonight. That's a big no on my end since I'm on my period. It wasn't that bad of a cost either. My insurance covered it so I only had to fork over $40.

So I had a pretty good experience which I am very thankful about. He checked me out too and my body has healed well and he said my C-section scar was looking great. He was quite proud of his handywork. He's so silly.

Oh, and when I had my son I was 218lbs.. today I was 176. WOOHOO!! Great news!

Anyways, I'm just holding my breath now wondering if I am going to have side effects. We'll see.

My son is doing really well.. weighs 13lbs and is 23 inches long. He's a good eater and wakes only once in the middle of the night to eat and then early in the morning but we're up at that time anyways.

So that's my update and news about today.
