Weekend Plans 7/4-7/6
What is everyone up to this holiday weekend?
For us:
Friday-this is Brady's 5th birthday. We have decided to alternate years on parties for the kids, starting this year. So every other year they will get a big party, and on the opposite year, we will take them to do something as a family. This year is a bit of a combo deal. We are having another pilot family over to BBQ and let the kids swim, they have a 4yo daughter that Brady really likes. Then in the evening we are headed to a Spokane Indians, minor league baseball, game, they will have fireworks after the game. Brady is getting a tent for his birthday, so I anticipate DH and the boys will be having a sleep out.
Saturday-MIL flies out at around noon. She has been here for 9 days, and well DH has only been home 4 of them. She is helpful, but at times just annoying. I hate to say it . It will be nice to have my house back. I think DH is taking the boys to the driving range.
Sunday-church in the morning and DH flies out in the afternoon to work
Happy 4th of July ladies!

Re: Weekend Plans 7/4-7/6
I am hosting a dinner party tonight (Friday here in Singapore already). I have been pouring over the recipe books for weeks and have finally decided what to cook. Tell me what you think......
On arrival - antipasta, consisting of buffalo mozzarella, marinated zucchini, semi-dried tomatoes, smoked salmon, parma ham, dolmades, pesto, olive oil, dukkah, all served with ciabatta bread.
Starter - crab cakes with coriander&avocado salsa.
Main - Individual fish pot pies made with snapper in a truffle cream sauce and with a flaky pastry top.
Dessert - chocolate mousse with fresh cream, strawberries and raspberries.
I have so many recipe books and I love to cook, so I try to host dinner parties as much as possible. It is so easy, since the kids are all asleep by 6.45pm and then I have time to finish preparing and get ready before guests arrive.
As for the rest of the weekend, since we are Australian we don't celebrate 4th of July weekend, so we are probably going to take the kids to the beach (and Singapore beaches are pretty ugly to begin with, compared to Australian beaches) and just spend quality time with them. Singapore is a very very boring place to spend the weekend!!
I hope everyone has a fantastic long (??) weekend and has a wonderful time with their beautiful families!

Lori, I totally know how you feel about your MIL. I am impressed you managed to last 9 days with her. I couldn't do 2 days with my MIL. Well done!!

Re: Weekend Plans 7/4-7/6
I took the kids to a big 4th parade one town over. Tomorrow we're going to my aunt's house (she has a big get together every 4th). My cousin is in from LA so it will good to see him.
We might take the boat out, but who knows. Other than that, not much.

Re: Weekend Plans 7/4-7/6
Sharyn, I think you cooked more for your dinner party today than I have in one entire day ever!!! (I don't enjoy cooking, can you tell?? )
Friday, DH was home off of work, we ran around until he realized he left his work cell phone at home. We tried to sneak in a nap before I came to work for some OT, but it didn't turn out that well, the phone kept ringing!
Saturday, running around getting things for Kaden's birthday on Sunday. He's going to be 5!!! I have to get a haircut for Kaden and DH if he doesn't do his tonight at home (he probably won't).
Sunday, BIRTHDAY TIME for Kaden (and it is his actual birthday, he got lucky this year!). His party is from 11-2 at a local park. I have to go check tomorrow if there is a faucet I can hook a sprinkler up to, since the splash pad isn't finished yet. We'll be having sandwiches, chips, drinks, and of course Birthday cake. I can't figure out how I'm going to do the ice cream, but somehow we'll have some and hopefully it won't be melted.
