I had my 23 week appointment and baby and I are doing well. I am up 14lbs total - I gained 4 lbs in 4 weeks which my doctor said is normal in 2nd trimester. I feel like I have been getting huge though and my lower back has been killing me! But when I feel those little kicks and nudges its all worth it!

Doctor talked to me and I ended up getting the H1N1 shot. When he said I am 4 times more likely to die if I got the swine flu I was convinced. He also said that baby is protected in there from shot so that made me feel relieved.

I feel like I can never get on SK anymore. I have been so busy with work...not to mention xmas shopping, my car breaking (I got to get a new one though! so excited) and DH working days/nights...needless to say its been crazy!

I log on and read as many posts as I can though :) Hopefully things will calm down soon. - I cant believe I(we) are 6 mos already. The rest of the pregnancy with the holidays is going to fly by!

Hope you are all doing well!

Positive Fetal Fibronectin Test

I had my follow up visit with my doctor yesterday at 25 weeks exactly hoping that she would let me go back to work, well today! She was not happy that I was still contracting at home when I was on my feet. Basically if I sit down I feel find. When I stand up for to long the contractions come back. So she did another fetal fibronectin to reasure both of us that working would be okay. The last one I had done was negative. Well this one turned up positive. If it is negative then it is a 98% chance of not going into labor. If its positive it is not as conclusive whether or not you will go into labor early.

Has anyone had a positive FFN before? What did your doctor tell you? Do I need to do anything like steriod shots for lung maturity? I was put home from work until Jan 1. I teach so we only have three weeks left before Christmas Holiday so I had her write me out until then. I go back and see her on Dec 2 for another appt and ultrasound of my cervical lenght, which was fine (4 cm) two weeks ago. Should I be overly concerned with a positive FFN. I kinda feel like I am walking on egg shells and am really concerned about what I do.

Other than that the appt went well. I still have to schedule the glucose test. I was up 20 lbs! I still have 15 weeks! My blood pressure was creeping up at 134/78. Which is very high for me! But baby measured perfect at 26 weeks and was moving all over the place kicking the doppler when they tried to listen to her heart! She is a stubborn little girl!
