Valentines Day Present

Posted 02-14-2008 at 04:32 AM by tatntole
Well I got my Valentines Day Present in the mail on tuesday and it was every bit as pretty as that itty-bitty picture on the computer screen showed. I got a little ahead of myself didn't I?

You see, my dh is not a romantic, go out and buy it for me kind of guy. Use to drive me crazy! Even at Christmas he hands me cash or we go together to pick out what I want (usually gives me cash, he hates shopping too) and often we don't even wrap the gifts.

When we first married 11 years ago this practice really got under my skin. it seemed to me that he wasn't making a effort. He kept insisting he was trying to see to it I got exactly what I wanted and who knew better what I wanted then me.

Skip forward a few years, now I have learned to look for things I like and just show them to him. That brings us to my bracelet. I saw a multi-gemstone sterling silver flower bracelet on Ice.com, at a reasonable price, that made my ovary's hurt! I showed it to him and hinted (rather broadly) that I would like it for Valentines Day and he said buy it. They were even doing free overnight shipping up to Valentines Day!

It took awhile to adjust to him not picking stuff out for me, but you know, getting exactly what you want really does go a long way! hosed.

I know how you feel...Its nice to get a gift that your husband picks specially for you! But like you say... its better this way!
My husband and I start buying gifts for each other in Oct/Nov; we give hints to each other. We have gift items set i.e. 1 CD,1 Book, 1 DVD, which personally select for each other automatically each Christmas. Then a gift under the tree that we may not know about; still makes the Christmas gift-giving fun!
