Baby Bedding Buys

Posted 07-01-2008 at 04:47 AM by Starbaby
Now that I have a 9 month old daughter, I have found myself surrounded by new and expecting mothers. It seems I have found myself attending a lot of baby showers as a result.

I like to find a good thing and stick with it. One of my favorite places to shop for baby showers is babybedding.com. For one, all of their items are unique and made in the USA. That's huge for me. But another big point for me is that they have a huge selection of fabrics that can be matched with boys, baby girls or gender neutral nurseries. I shopped for a girl baby bedding set for my sister in law there. But for newer friends that don't get the big ticket items (I'm broke!), I have found some really good buys in nursery decor including original baby blankets in the $40-$70 range. Happy shopping!

Cloth Diapers for the 21st Century

Like every wanna-be-green parent, I thought cloth diapers would be the way to keep horrible stuff out of landfills, be green, be kind, etc.

Let's face it, there's nothing like tossing a poo-filled diaper in the trash. It's done. But for cloth diapers, it's not so easy. Cleaning cloth diapers involves a "rinse-before-wash" scenario that can be...messy. Having said that, the new cloth diapers of today are very easy to use and clean.

We bought a little sprayer that goes by our toilet that makes the diaper rinsing a breeze. It's very similar to the ones in kitchen sinks. Also, we have found the perfect brand of diaper (for us).

The Bum Genius All in One diaper is, as they claim, the easiest to use cloth diaper available. It has essentially the same design as sposies, except they're reusable and my baby likes them much more than a disposable.

We end up doing about a 50/50 split between cloth and disposable and that's just life. But the new generation of clot diapers make it so much easier than the days of giant safety pins.
