Happy New Year: My Journey Continues...

Posted 01-02-2008 at 09:12 PM by Psaltea
I first want to acknowledge that I have thyroid disease which is a metabolism disorder.
Although I take a daily medication as to keep it working it makes losing weight an uphill battle to say the least.

In June of 2007, I came to the realization after losing my Mom unexpectactly that I MUST do something no matter how long it takes and how hard it is to get a a healthy weight so I can live a long productive life.
Although I am in no hurry to see grandchildren, I do look forward to a time when I can enjoy them.

I have lost a total of 17 lbs since June 07. I think I let the holidays of 2007 creep in and steal some of that away and I have gained a FEW back. It is a FEW that I need to get back in control of again before I let it all come back.
So I have recommitted to myself and I will continue on this journey, it is a long hard battle for everyone but especially if you have a metabolism disorder. But it can and will be done!
All you have to do is believe and make it happen.
I believe!

Congrats on your 17 lb loss last year! I'm a 5 month postpartum mama and in a similar situation with my metabolism, even though it's (hopefully) temporary. Breastfeeding always slows my metabolism way down and also makes me SO hungry and craving carbs like crazy. So I'm in a holding pattern right now of trying desperately not to *gain* more weight, when I'd love more than anything to drop about 30 lbs. :-P

Best wishes for the new year, mama, and achieving your goals for good health!

Looking foward to following your blog. I'll be on the weight loss journey with you. I know I need to do something NOW for a longer, healthier life. I, too, am a homeschooling mom. I have a dd in 2nd grade and one in K. We use Sonlight with some other things added in for manners and such. I'm keeping a blog on SK about my journey of changes this year.

I had also lost 17 lbs and then gained back quite a bit since a trip we took in October. I'll be cheering you on!
