Ah, riding in a goat-driven carriage
I have been scanning in some old family photos -- "old" as in from about 1910-1920.
Here's one I just love, of my grandmother and her younger sister:

The patina on this photograph is just fantastic.
I love the story the picture tells, too. My grandma -- wearing a hair bow almost bigger than her head -- looks less than thrilled with the whole situation. And the idea of a goat (I think?) pulling the carriage was probably funny then, too.
It would be wonderful to know the story behind this -- alas, there's nobody around to tell the tale. But at least I have the photo safely archived now to share with my kids and future generations to come. :-)

Hey there. I love your pictures. It's wonderful to perserve things like that so that future generations will have some idea of what life was like in that era and our own for that matter.

love the bow, love the goat. i wonder, though, if they thought it was silly at all. i think i've seen a picture similar in my old family photos.
