Go Back   SheKnows Message Boards > Blogs > Chapter 11: Things of Lasting Value

Notices

It seems I'm the 11th blog on here, so I thought it appropriate to call this Chapter 11.

Life is full of chapters. I can see definate breaks when I look back at my life; turning points. I was glad to be the 11th blog started here because I feel I'm at a turning point between bankruptcy (just going through the daily grind with the only purpose being to make it through) and having a life with a lasting impact on those around me.

I sometimes feel bankrupt emotionally because I have too much clutter in my home... and on my body. It keeps me from pursing things of lasting value. I'm embarking on a journey to change that. I'd rather not post all this on my other blog so here it is. Care to join in the fun, cheer me on, or just see if I can make it?

Day 2 of 30

Wow I feel so much thinner.

HA!

No carbs takes more planning. Duh. We had a very nice supper of ham, eggs, and broccoli all scrambled together last night. The box of things I cleaned out of the pantry is sitting on the kitchen table. Talk about torture! Oh, I forgot, I told dh we can't complain about our misery. We got ourselves where we are and now we need to face the consequences. Yes, there are probably easier ways of losing weight, but I'm the type of person that needs something very specific. I need to know exactly what I can and cannot eat. I'm sure I can maintain a healthy weight with little problem once I get there, or so I tell myself.

This morning I had a protein "shake". I had done the lemonade fast to kick start me before and had considered staying on it a little longer so I'd gotten the protein powder to supplement it. Now I can make use of it. I think if we use ice and milk with it we might have a nice dessert!

I'm going to make eggs again with jalapeno cheese and salsa for lunch. YUM! When I had gestational diabetes I ate eggs every morning. I got so sick of them until I started adding cheese and salsa. Then I actually looked foward to them every day!

Tonight we'll have the remaining Hoppin' John from New Year's (black-eyed peas and ham with onions).

For the record, I was 168 postpartum (Feb. 07). I lost 17 lbs. from about July to October. Then we had our road trip and I really got some bad habits. Yesterday the scale said 160. My goal weight is 135. When I reach that, if I'm not pg again, I may attempt to reach my impossible goal of 125. Just trying to be realistic I was 125 in high school.
