My Autistic Son~A Mother's Thoughts...

I wonder how it is to look threw the eyes of an autistic child? What does he see? How does he feel? How does he hear things? Looking at my son I have so many questions with so little answers. I often find my self wondering why this had to happen to my little boy?
He receives therapy and will be going to school in the very near future, and I have been told by the specialist that Leo is performing on the high functioning end of the spectrum, but still even that isn't enough comfort in knowing my son will have challenges and obstacles to over come. Its frustrating when all I hear is silence or rambling from his lips.
I wish as A Mother I could erase this part of his life and make it so he would not have to bear witness to this disorder labeled Autism.

Firstly i just want to say how courageous you are! I also wanted to say that the quote 'having a child is like wearing your heart on you sleeve' has never been truer than it is in the case of a child with a challenge of some kind whether it be physical or psycological or behavioral. As mothers we all want the very best for our children and when you are unable to take away the pain or the struggle from their young lives it can tear you apart! My daughter has cerebral palsy and every new stage of her life eg kindy school etc has me plagued with anxiety not knowing how she will cope, all we can do is support them and love them to the best of our abililty! All i can say is Kia Kaha (be strong) and know your son is like a rainbow in a world of grey clouds!!!!
