Along with thinking about my MIL's craziness, etc, I've also been thinking about what I'd like to do differently this time around.

When peanut was born, he was induced, we had told everyone the name, and minutes after he was handed to me I was surrounded by grandparents on both sides who wanted to hold him and then spent the next five months living with my husband in my parents home while we looked for a new place (he got a job offer near my parents that allowed me to be a SAHM)....

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), my husband's mother has been out of our lives since the day we were married almost a year ago...for many, many reasons. So I've officially made my first purchase of this (non? hopeful? maybe?) pregnancy (I don't even like typing that because it feels like....there's no way!). Anyways, I found a lot on eBay of beautiful maternity clothes that I loved, and decided to throw caution/discretion to the wind and get them. Besides, I'll need them at some point, right? (I hope!) It almost feels like bowing to superstition to say that I shouldn't buy anything - on the other hand, I feel like I'm temping Fate by proceeding...

One of the best parts of trying to conceive has been to help get myself more acquainted with what's going on "down there." It's been interesting to see my temperatures telling me what's happening, to know how the cycle waxes and wanes, and I've been pleasantly surprised with how accessible it all seems. But in this two-week wait period, I feel like everything is scrutinized in a different way. Was that really a twinge or more like a pain? Was it gas or a rumbly tummy? Am I nauseous...

Anyone that knows me know that I am, by far, one of the least patient people in the world. The internet has spoiled me, DVR/On Demand is my best friend, and I have a love affair with overnight shipping. So this two-week wait business? Let's just say if we were to meet in a dark alley somewhere there would only be one of us leaving....and I'd put my money on me.
