Sunday here we are! :( How dare I get a warning letter for truancy!

Posted 02-03-2008 at 12:05 PM by Jodymomof2inaz
So first off I have a rant. I received a letter saturday saying my son has missed 15 days of school and that if he misses anymore I could get fined and in trouble for truancy/him being truant. They basically called him truant, but then in the same letter a paragraph down they had the definition of "truant" was 5 or more UNEXCUSED absenses! So I am trying to figure a way to go about this. I think 2 of his absenses I forgot to call in on, and thats it (at the same time I was sick to and completely spaced it off) He has legitimately been sick, every day, including we had some problems with a medication that irritated his exzema. So I am pretty upset and almost afraid to call the truant officer because I know I will go completely ballistic on her. I might have to twist my husbands arm to call her *hint hint if your reading this Tony*

Well its Sunday and I feel like my whole weekend was a absolute waste. I didnt get any quilting done hardly any housework done (I did get my 6yr olds room cleaned though!) the house is a mess working on laundry and my son decided to eat 14 yogurts in the span of oh, 24 hours (thats not to say he didnt waste any of them either I am sure he did) His appetite is so funky with his meds that I dont refuse him any food, but I think he went total overboard (we were sleeping when he did the majority of his damage, decided he was going to make frozen yogurt, and eat some, and make different concotions with them) so that annoys me slightly I can buy more so not upset about the price or anything just that he wasted alot of them.

waiting for my car to get done, little ticked about the whole thing. we were quoted 900$ worth of work but that included some stuff I could wait on, so we settled for like $550 worth of work. I dont know if I still got a good deal for the car or not. I think I did in a sense, mileage wise, it looks nicer too, 5 years older than the van I traded it for, it just wasnt taken care of so it had alot of work that needed to be done, but nothing MAJOR. My inlaws are godsends for paying for it thats for sure. Iam actually going to talk to hubby about sending his mom some flowers at work for her birthday. even though I know she would be equally as happy with cards from the kids.

other than that its 1pm day isnt over, I guarantee I wont go to bed til midnight

UPDATE on that letter! I was in the school office today dropping off a patch for Nic at the nurses office in case of emergencies. Another parent was there also and I heard her ask for the principal or truant officer and I piped in that I got one of those letters also. The clerk explained its a mass-mailed out letter and unless our child is truant by their definition (5 or more days of UNEXCUSED absences) that It wasn't meant for us and not to worry. I feel so much better now even if My husband said the same thing last night
