38 and Want a Baby

Posted 03-04-2008 at 05:42 AM by Cocopupper
Hello. New here. I am 38 and want a baby. Well, I already have a baby, but he is 16 years old, 6ft tall, size 13 shoe (and doesn't like to be referred to as "my baby". He IS still my baby though!

Anywho, I just got married (again, but this is the one). I had my IUD taken out in January. I was a pretty fertile person, but now with age and a tubal pregnancy 10 years ago that took one of my tubes I am wondering about my chances. Also, my husband, who is 10 years older than me, also a type 2 diabetic, took an at home sperm count test and his numbers were low.

SO, I have an appointment with a fertility doctor and now I am wondering what I thought would be a pretty easy deal may turn into something complicated and expensive.

Also, I am over weight, not like gross, but plump. I would tell you it is still the baby weight, but hell it has been 16 years. So, I am trying to watch what I eat and trying to get back to exercise. I want it all, I want to be fit, be pregnant, and want it now. (I am not the most patient person.) But seriously, with age, I think the sooner the better.

So, I am ready to go to this doctor next week, have him check my DH sperm count, check out the old uterus and let me know the deal. I am pretty much clueless on all this fertility stuff, I am trying to educate myself, so I have been lurking around, reading info, and let me say thank you so much for putting your personal stories out there, it makes me feel not so alone.

Well, everyone thanks for reading!
