Just an opportunity to post stories and photos of the girls, so friends and family can keep up with us.
Another Round of K Says...
I have a variety from the past two days, some sappy, some silly.
I'll start with her drawing today. She asked what she should draw, and I suggested an outdoor scene since it's been warmer and we've been outside more lately. I learned a long time ago to never try to guess what a picture is. Instead you say, "tell me about your drawing."
K: well, this is C, and this is Daddy and this is me. We're pwaying on my new park that Daddy put in the back yard. (wishful thinking)
me: where am I?
K: you're inside, doing laundry.
-------------
In the car yesterday on the way to work, K was chattering on and on. To distract her for a little while, I reminded her that it was V day at preschool, so she should think of some words. Her first choice? "Vehookle. And a van is a vehookle, and that starts with V, too. But a bwazer starts with B and so does bus, so not all vehookles start with V."
---------------
My proud, proud moment, which brought tears to my eyes. K and C come to work with me, and we often work around children with disabilities. Tuesday her class had a hop-a-thon for MDA. She did 146 hops in her two minute time span. I thought it had been explained at school, but then we had the following exchange.
me: do you know why you were hopping?
K: well, we were hopping for Jerry's kids. I don't know who Jerry is. Does he have a lot of kids?
me: you were helping raise money to help kids who don't walk too well. **
K: wike C? Because she falls down a wot.
me: no, I mean older kids who have trouble with their legs.
K: oh! Wike A? And people who use wheelchairs?
me: yes, that's right.
K: well, when I go back to school on Thursday, I'm going to tell Mrs. W that I want them to give my money to H and T so they don't have so much twouble any more.
**btw, yes. I know this is a gross oversimplification, but she's 4. I didn't know how else to explain it to a 4 year old.
