Snow Days, The Cruel Irony

Posted 02-06-2008 at 07:41 AM by amyblue
So, I don't have to go to work today because there's so much snow. This would normally be a good thing, but it's not so much today. The morning started early with a rousing rendition of the "It's Never Going to be 7" song from K. Since she learned numbers at age 2, I bought her an alarm clock and taught her not to ask to get out of bed until it said 7.

We got up, and started instantly with fighting, Cheerio spilling, crying, and sass. K is currently locked in her bedroom (her choice) because I had the audacity to ask her to clean it and stop pushing her sister down. C is mad because she can't get in K's room to bother her. It's 9 am! How will I make it through the day?

Did I mention that I am sick? Yesterday we had to stay home because C had a raging fever and I wasn't feeling well. I did drag us sickies out of the house to get K to preschool for a couple of hours.
-----

In the middle of my diatribe, I realized 9 am is when Sesame Street starts. I put that on, strapped C into the high chair with some finger foods, and did some marathon dishwashing. C has a short attention span, but I at least got something accomplished. I think now that the dishes are done and Elmo is thinking about kitties, I may have 15 minutes to drink my coffee in peace.

Hi amyblue! Thanks for your comment on my blog "Rainy Days." I agree that there is a disorder which affects people's moods. And it does occur seasonally and the weather also plays a role.

I can relate to everything you mentioned in your blog about snowy days and getting the kids ready in the morning. And it's never easy when someone is sick in the family. It's good that you managed to make time for a cup of coffee. Take care.
