Joshuas birth story.....
Okay, my mind is not all there due to lack of sleep, but I figure if I don't do this now, I never will...Sat night-the 1st of January, I went to my best friends house with my sister. We were going to get the baby out! I had ate burritos and tacos for supper, and we all went for a long walk to the video store. After watching two videos, we left around midnight, with me promising the baby was not budging and we would all be allowed to sleep in. I went on the SK board, and at about 3:30 am went to bed. At 6:55am I felt something plop out and went to the bathroom all mad that I had pissed myself. Well, I had show, a heck of alot of it, so I called my sister, Chrystal- she lives two doors away, and asked her to come over. She comes and starts the calls, while I sit in the hot shower. I was just feeling little twinges of pain, so I got mad that she called Sunshine, my friend, and Tammy, my best friend, and had them woken up. So Sunshine comes just after, and I am like "oh so sorry to have gotten you up, it is just the start, won't be going to the hospital for a while", sorta thing. Then Chrys gets Aiden up and takes him to her house, Sunshine loads the car, and we are off to Tammy's- a half way point to the hospital. So on the way, I am starting to feel the contractions alot more, and just before Tammy's I phone the hospital, to ask what to do and they tell me to come in and get checked. So we pass Tammy's while I'm on the phone telling her to come meet us at the hospital. Well, by the time we get there- about 45 minutes, I am soo grateful to be there, cause its starting to really hurt. I check in and they monitor me for an hour. The dr comes and checks me- 1 frigging cm, -3 station. But my contractions are less than 5 mins apart and I am crying each time it hurts so freaking bad. So, the dr, knowing I go fast once I hit a point admits me. My ex SO Jason comes up at 11:30 and the fun of getting the show on the road begins. The nurse pops an adavan(sp?) under my tongue, which loosens me up, and allows me to relax, and I am put into the shower. Both my 2 ds were sunny side up, and Joshua was sideways, and they wanted him to come out the right way, so I had to kneel over a shower seat in the tub with hot water on my back. Well, I would get out, walk the halls with the birthing ball, then hop back on into the shower. Around 3:30 I was checked and found to be at 2cm, -2. My contractions were like 3 mins apart. Dr broke my water and let me have the gas. They didn't want me to have an epi b/c it upped the chance of a c/s and this was my 2nd Vbac. Oh the gas... So the gas reached into the shower and life was looking up. Around 5:30 She checked me again, I was 4, could stretch to a 5. The labor was getting really rough, so I started screaming for an epi. I had to get out of the shower to get into bed and left my bra in the gown- now somewhere in the hospitals lost and found I am sure, cause it was the last time I seen it. They give me a shot of demerol to ward off the pain til the epi guy came. The contractions were back to back and the gas wasn't working fast enough for me. Finally I get my epi. I was hopping to his instructions. I was like how far do you want me to move, is my back round enough, I was willing to do anything just to get stuck by that needle. So, it went in, but I was still feeling a bit of pain, so I kept my gas. The dr checks me and she's telling me I am a 7. The next contraction, I felt the drop of a basketball, and it wanted to keep going. I tore really bad with my 2nd, so I was yelling how I didn't want to rip, but he was coming and I couldn't stop him, and then the dr checked and I was full, and she told me I could push, which I was confused by b/c I thought there was no way I went 3cm in 1 contraction, but it was time. So I am yelling at my ex so at this point about how wrong it is to leave a pregnant woman, that he better remember this, how it's all his fault. I actually have pics of this!Well, a couple pushes, nasty ring of fire, and his 37.5cm head finally emerges with the cord around his neck, so the dr puts her fingers in and unloops it- ouchie! I am panting, he comes out with the next push at 8:31 pm. He was purple, and not breathing. The dr takes him to the warmer and they suction out his lungs with this long tube. I get to see him for a minute, and they take him to the nursery for 1/2 hr to put under the oxygen. I didn't know, but I lost alot of blood. I kept having to lift my butt up for the nurse to stick this sheet under over and over, but didn't know I was filling each one up. I tore about an inch, so once the bleeding slows, the dr stitches me up. I guess I passed out b/c Tammy took a pic of me w/ the gas mask on my face, but no hand holding it. She said I was snoring and gone to the world for a while. No wonder it felt like Josh was gone for just a few minutes! So I got my baby back just as my sis was bringing in my other two to meet him and I got to b/f him finally. I had to stay in the hospital for two days to make sure the bleeding was under control, and have to take it easy- haha thats funny, but aside from that so far so good.Joshua Jason Rhys Fuoco was 9lbs 0.6oz, 22" long, and was 2 oz short of his birth weight the day after we got home- so yes, a VERY big eater! He still coughs loud every now and then and sounds a bit congested, but is doing well. His jaundice is under control, and he's an innie. And yes, the choas is well under way, but I am enjoying it and the boys love their little brother, though Aiden has managed to hit him in the head with various objects accidentally.
