minivans/vehicles
Hi, everyone! So I'm driving a 2 door sport coupe, which is already a challenge with a toddler, but obviously is not going to work with twins and a toddler, all 3 in carseats! So I just started car shopping.
Does anyone have recommendations for the good vehicles for 3 kids in carseats? My oldest is 18 months but only 18 pounds - so she's in a convertible "big girl" seat that is still rear facing (a Britax roundabout). She will likely be in a real carseat and not a booster for quite a while with her weight. Many of the minivans I'm seeing have 2 captains seats and a back/3rd row. To get to the 3rd row, you have to fold down a seat and then climb into the 3rd row to get the baby in. I was hoping for something a little more simple, but maybe it's like that with most of them? (Unless you find one with 2 bench seats - I am not sure what models those are, though.) I looked at Kia, Hyundai, and a Mazda 5 (which is more like a crossover suv/wagon than a minivan) today. And those all had the 2 captain seats and a row in the back. The Mazda 5 had no cargo space if you're using the 3rd row, so I think I ruled that one out.
I would love to drive a crossover that doesn't look and feel so van-y (I'm eye-ing a used Mercedes R350, which has 2 doors like a car but 3 rows and a little cargo space), but I'm not sure if those are impractical and I should just get a minivan. It seems like the crossovers have less cargo space, and I'm not sure how big double strollers are when they are folded down. How many inches/feet would you estimate that you need, minimum, behind your back seat to get a double stroller in there?
Thanks!
