Default Avery's birth story and some pictures

I started having harder contractions on Wednesday night (5/14/2008) and they were off and on. They were the same when I got up on Thursday. I decided to call the nurse and talk it over with her. I was not going to be sent home again with no baby!! :72: After talking with her, she really wanted me to come to the hospital. I called my Mom and she came and got me. The girls came with us and my step-Mom met us up there to watch the girls. After getting settled in my room, they checked me and I was 5 cm! I had finally moved from a 4!! The decision was made that I was going to stay and we were having a baby! Praise the Lord!! The catch was my Dr. (whom I love) had to go to a graduation dinner for his daughter. He was willing to break my water then and see if I could deliver before he had to go or I could wait for him to come back from the dinner and then he would break my water. The other catch was L & D was packed that day. I got the last bed. The nurses did not think it was wise to put me into full labor at that point because they were so busy. I was fine with waiting…so waiting is what we did. I continued to have contractions, but never dilated any further. We had our family in the room with us while we were waiting for the Dr. to come back. We were all excited to be able to watch the Office finale! While I was watching, I was laughing and my water broke (at 8:45)! We were all shocked! I received my epidural at 9:45 and I was so thankful to receive it. I was in pain and had been for some hours. My Dr. come in at 10:05 and checks me – 6 cm. I am thankful for the epidural at this point, but around 11:30 I start to feel the contractions and call my nurse in. She checks me at 11:45 and the head is crowning! Let’s just say the room became very busy! They were running around getting things ready. My Dr. comes in about 5 mins later and he checks me. Let’s just say he didn’t have to check me. He just had to lift the sheet! They all flew into action and got me set up in the stirrups, and with that I am yelling, “Here it comes….its coming!!!” I couldn’t hold it back. My Dr. couldn’t even get his gown or gloves on. The head had come out and he was telling me to not push. He then was ready for me to push the shoulders out. With one little push Avery Margaret was born! She was born on May 16, 2008, 12:01am.

A little on her name: Margaret was my Grandma’s name. I was pg with Avery when my Grandma passed away. We didn’t know what we were having at the time. The night my Grandma died I went over to their house an hour after she passed. I had not felt the baby kick at this point in my pg. I was sitting on their couch as we were telling stories of her and Avery kicked and moved for the first time. It was a moment I will never forget. After finding out we were having a little girl, we knew her middle name needed to be Margaret. I can’t tell you how happy we are to have a little girl. So many people thought we wanted a boy. We would have loved a little boy, but we are so happy and content with 3 little girls. I am overflowing with joy and love for these girls. So is their daddy!
