Icon9 Tubes it is and our night in the ER

Well, we went to the ENT last week and Em is definitely getting tubes. She failed the hearing test and the pressure test showed a good amount of fluid stuck on her ears. So, the ENT said tubes are the solution, but because of her Mastocytosis, we're doing it at the Children's Hospital so that we have staff that is prepared to handle any situation that may arise (due to her masto she could have a huge histamine reaction to the anesthetics).

We got home Thursday afternoon and Friday I went back to work. When I picked her up from my dad after working out on Friday night her eyes were super running and gunky. They kept getting worse and I figured pink eye. The OC doc said i was probably right and since she's already had it, we had the drops for it. But I was told that if she got a fever or her eyes swelled shut to call back. I went home and gave her drops and took these pics at 9pm.

Poor Bean!!

I always check on her before I go to bed at night. She was so congested when I put her down that she sounded like Darth Vader. But she's an avid nukkie sucker, so she was really struggling to breathe and was whining. So, I figured we'd just sleep in the chair together to help her drain a bit better. I picked her up and saw that her eye was SUPER swollen. So, I call the OC doc back at midnight and take these pics.

So, she sends us to the ER and tells us to pack a bag in case the infection is truly in her eye. Because then they would have kept her overnight and administered IV antibiotics. YAY! UGH! So, we get there, the ER doc looks at her and says, "I'm going to give her a Z-pac" and kind of looks at me with that Anything Else? look. I told him the concerns the OC doc voiced to me and he finally TOUCHED my child. He looked in her ears and said they were red... I told him she's getting tubes Friday because of an ear infection she's had for almost 2 months, so that's not surprising. He said the Z-pac will help her ears. Ummmm DORK!!! I even told him about the antibiotic SHOTS she had and he assured the Z-pac would help her ears. Again... DORK!!! Some docs just don't know kids! Anywho... he finally pried open on eye and Em struggled against him. Then opened the bad eye and goop came POURING out! He called the eye doc and they sent us home with oral antibiotics and eye medicine. I took these pics at 3am

My poor baby looked miserable. But between the antibiotics and her masto medication... when daddy went to get her from her crib the next morning she looked at him with two bright blue eyes!!! She could open them again!!!

She's 100x better today. Doc gave her the a-okay to stop the eye medicine and she's gotten her pre-op physical. So, we're still on schedule for tubes on Friday. And then a girls weekend while we're down there with my mom and sis. YAY!!!!

Now, if my poor baby girl could just STAY healthy for a while!!!
