My mother was only 19 when she had me. She had her struggles and she took on the role of my best friend rather than my mother. In some ways that was a better way to raise me, but then again I didn't always have the guidance I needed growing up. All she told me was do as I say, not as I did. She made many mistakes and I was able to learn from her mistakes and take a different path. My mom didn't graduate from high school so she was proud of me when I did. I then graduated from technical college and once again she was proud. I took a different path in my life, got married at a good age and planned many steps in my life. I was able to learn from the difficult life my mom has had and in turn I took different steps to ensure my own success. I love my mom and I know she did the best she could.
