Car crash...
To understand this you probably need to remember that we drive on the left. Had a car crash yesterday. I was dumb. I admit it. I am driving around a bend to the right, kids in the back of the car and the car in front pulls to the right hand side of the road. I am moving much faster than it (elderly lady) so I brake and pull over to the left - just as she turns left into her driveway. I smash into the side of her and all hell breaks loose. We are all thrown forwards, Amelie is screaming, I just didn't know what to do!
I pulled over and tried to get out the car but my door wouldn't open. I try to ascertain if the kids are OK but I am really confused. The lady driving the other car comes over (she was fine) and I apologise for not getting out but my door is stuck. She says that she was indicating. I say I believe her, I just didn't see it. I saw her pull right and assumed she was turning right. I was trying to find a pen to give her my details when some fat ******* from a garden opposite comes flying over and starts shouting at me.
'Get out the ******* car. You caused the accident and you don't even have the decency to get out the car. It's your fault. I saw everything. The person behind is always to blame.'
Amelie was crying so bad and I ust didn't know what to deal with first. The lady, the man, my baby. I was pretty scared.
I said to him, 'Excuse me, would you mind going back to the other side of the road as I am pretty scared and feeling threatened by you.' He did, but he came back twice more to have another go. Amelie was fine. I climbed into the back and she was just scared too and angry at me. She shouted to get out the car so I got her out and finished writing my details for the lady. In NZ you don't have to be insured so I think she was relieved that I was. My car didn't look too bad, some bad scratches on the front right but the whole front right side had been distorted back slightly, stopping the door from opening. Her car was much worse.
Amelie wouldn't get back in the car so I sat at the side of the road for about 20 minutes whilst the angry muthafucka from the garden stared at us. I was so scared to drive home.
Now I don't want to drive at all. Someone is picking Jake up to take him to school today and I am wagging Playcentre. I have those people coming to stay today anyhow so it will be nice to be home.
I so don't want to drive again!
I know it was my fault but I was a bit pissed that nobody asked if me or the kids were alright. It's not like I was an ******* about it.
Now we have over $1250 in insurance excess to pay with this being our fourth claim in three weeks thanks to the two thefts. The car theft was two separate claims and the phone a third. My car excess is huge as I have only recently learned to drive. Hubby is not happy. I am even less so as I feel guilty about it too.
At least the kids were fine in the end though.
