Default Re: 2 Year Check Up

My girls just turned 2 and I have a skinny mini, also. Ruby is 21.5 lbs and 32 inches. We see a nutritionist through our early childhood intervention program (because Ruby has dairy and soy issues). The main thing to do is add more fat calories to their diets. Not more protein. Going above and beyond on the protein can be harsh on the kidneys. Add some heavy cream in place of milk, olive oil on veggies, flax seed oil in a smoothie, peanut or almond butter... that kind of stuff.

Regarding speech, don't freak out. It is really normal for boys and twins also to have delays. So, that's double whammy for you. Get the consult and all the services you can. That's never a bad thing. The boys will enjoy it. Signing has helped a lot with the language development for us. The girls watch Signing Times on PBS and will practice the sign and the word at the same time. And just keep talking to them, reading to them and repeating the words they do say (but say them correctly, not baby talk).

We'll all be wishing our kids would shut it for a second in the very near future, I'm sure
