I agree with all other posts -- TRUST your instincts!! They will never let you down.

I would compose a very concise, very meaningful letter to old RE and note in there that you are considering calling the medical board and your attorney for advise as to what legally your options are -- I guarantee you'll have a financial offer by the close of business on the date of the receipt of the letter.
