Re: re-warming thawed breastmilk
after 30 hrs of struggle, Mikey finally had a good feeding- 7oz. he would only do 2 at a time until now, and with tears.
the anitbiotics appear to be working on me so i'm finally on the mend, and pumping for 5 days.
one thing that really helped was starting with a little formula in breastmilk, and increasing it until i ran out of frozen breast milk and now he's on straight formula without hating it anymore,
this is how it can happen-
DH turned off the freezer 2 weeks ago and forgot to plug it back in. Then he left for work for his 2 week hitch (800 mls away).
so even though i've had vomit diarrhea black stool nausea achey swollen glands- i've kept eating- thinking Mikey needs the nutrition from my breastmilk. i did not know all the food was bad and i just kept getting sicker. it feels like a wolverine is in my tummy. i just figured it out tonight when i staggered out to get another frozen meal to shove in the microwave (cause i'm too sick to prepare real food) and i noticed a puddle dripping out of the freezer on the floor.
well i finally was in enough pain to go to the clinic. the doc said my intestines are bleeding and i have severe dysentery. i thought it was challenging to b/f while the IV was in, but now am bumming- they said i have to quit b/f + take antibiotics for 5 days. i'm at home with a heperin lock in my arm trying to get Mikey to take the bottle again. that is the hard part. he hates the bottle unless he's starved. i am not allowed to eat food until Monday morning, so we're both starved. the good news is he doesn't have the food posioning. thanx for your support, i don't feel quite as alone.
