Thanks everyone! Yeah not sure I was going to use them right away anyway, but was really thinking for swimming and maybe certain shirts that are more form fitting that show the other cotton/disposables. I had tried the Gerber washables with my first and didn't like them. I'll most likely use the Johnson and Johnson disposables (had them with both kids and really liked them) at home and for some/most outings. I know I didn't need pads the whole time with either of my kids, I just can't remember when I stopped needing them. My first I nursed for 10 1/2 months and my last I nursed a full year, but I want to say I only think I went through maybe two boxes of nursing pads so I don't think it was too long that I needed them.
We are going camping when baby will be about 6 weeks old (give or take a week depending on when s/he gets here) and I'm sure we'll be at the beach everyday, so I'm hoping I'll be regulated enough to use them for that trip.
