Re: olivia grace
ok... She is here. Have had a bear of a time with internet connectivity.
So we went in Friday for the induction. There was a scheduling mix up and our time was supposed to be 7:00 instead of 5:30. They put us in a private waiting room so that we could nap while we waited.
We got into the room about 7 and they had the pitocin drip going by 8:30. My OB checked me about 9:00 and I was still at a 1. (which surprised me side I contracted all day Thurs.) the gradually increased the pit unt 1 when my doc came back and checked to find the baby don a little further, but me still a 1. Then they decided to break my water. Man was that weird. Anyway, they checked me again at e
3 and I was a three. At 4:30, after discussing the likely length of the rest of labor and high possibility of a c section, I decided to get an epidural.
The doc came back and checked again at 6 and I was still a 3. BUT little Olivia had done something I didn't even know was possible. She had completely disengaged herself from the birth canal and was on a little space walk in there!
Well, of course our only option was a c section at that point. I had a momentary emotional freak out (crying breakdown) , but kathy and the nurse were great and helped me through it while everyone buzzed around prepping me for the OR.
We were in the room quickly and kathy watched the surgery and gave me a non gory narration of whatbthey were doing, they finally coaxed little Olivia of at 7:01 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.
She aspirated a lot of fluids on the way out so they had tosuction her quite a bit and do blow by oxygen, but after that she was doing great and got an Apgar of 9.
We will be in the hospital until Tuesday. She is having to do phototherapy for Jaundice over the next 24 hours because of an ABO incompatibility syndrome, but otherwise she is really great.
We love her more than I thought imagineable.
