Default Re: low carb eating

I recently started seeing an acupuncturist (because I felt I needed to do *something* to increase my odds of conceiving again). Really, it's less the acupuncture than a lifestyle change that seems to be the ticket -- including eliminating sugars and simple carbs and sticking to whole grains and complex carbs. Plus some herbal supplements that he recommended. He stated that your ovaries start preparing the eggs 3 months ahead, so healthy changes may take that long to come to fruition. He also indicated that sugar levels can muddle with your hormones.

I must admit, despite my best efforts, I haven't been very good about the diet he's recommended. Life has been complicated lately and it does take some work and effort to change one's eating habits. In general, I try to eat well, but we've definitely ordered our share of pizzas here over the past several months. And there is an overabundance of chocolate around too what with Christmas, then Valentine's and soon Easter. I've had a terrible sweet tooth lately. I would like to lose 20-25lbs and, in the past, I felt that it wouldn't be a good idea to do that while TTC. Now I think it is the perfect time. My renewed resolve begins when I wake up tomorrow!

Thanks for the tip on the Astroglide; might have to give that a try.

Sorry to hear you have such an insensitive friend. I'm afraid I don't really have any advice -- some people are just clueless. If it's making you uncomfortable, I personally don't think leaving the shower early should be offensive -- you'll have to gauge how you think she will react.

Good luck and lots of babydust your way!
