My adventures in tandom nursing
What a roller coaster! My high-needs toddler has gone from 2-3x/day to as often as she can. Thankfully, my baby is much more mellow than my toddler ever was so I can set her down and she won't scream immediately. She also doesn't use me for a human pacifier like my first did. But now I seem to spend almost all of my day nursing, and my toddler has gone back to night-nursing 2-3x. It's a good thing, though, because I think it really minimizes the jealousy for my older girl. I'm really happy knowing that I have that booby to make things better for her.
My big worry is food. Vivian won't tell me she's hungry, she just starts demanding booby. She's not eating as much as she used to, sometimes she barely eats at all, but she'll nurse 6-8x/day. She's obviously not starved and is growing well, but I still worry.
Irene is getting all she needs, she was at 8lbs 9oz at 6wks, and her low was 5lbs 7oz (she was only 5lbs 14oz at birth - tiny!), so I'm not worried that Vivian is taking her sister's milk. I was at first, so I assigned a boob to each of them, LOL!
