Metformin is used sometimes for PCOS. It can help some women ovulate.
If cost is a factor, you can do clomid with a small does of gonal-f or a similar med.
Cost depends on which med you buy and from which pharmacy. Call around. You'll get different prices for gonal-f depending on which pharmacy. One pharmacy may have a better price on follistim.
I mainly used the pens which had 600units. They make smaller amounts though. The cost is slipping my mind since it's been awhile.
Since I have PCOS, I respond very easily to gonal-f etc.
I certainly understand the frustration of costs. My insur. only covered diagnostic testing and b/w, u/s. Meds and ivf were out of pocket.
Metformin alone did nothing for me but my endo added 30mg of Actos and I ovulated immediately!
