One of the main problems is that there is a subheading in the NIV (one of the most popular transaltions) between Eph 5:21 "submit to one another out of reverence for Christ" and 22 "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything." and so so many times the submission verses are lost when it comes to the household and between husbands and wives. The verses have to be read in context and unfortunately in the past they have not been and women have been pushed down (if that makes sense).
