Default Re: Post Myomectomy questions

Hi and welcome to the board!

I would definitely call your doctor and ask these questions but I will try to answer them based on my experience.

1) When is it okay to have sex again? I would treat it like a c-section and not engage in intercourse for a minimum of 6 weeks. Depending on how major your surgery was it could be longer. Definitly call your doctor before you engage in anything. TMI- but an orgasm could be damaging after this surgery.

2) I am driving and working, and I started after two weeks of recovery, but I sometimes worry that I am pushing myself too hard. One day i'll feel great, the next day terrible. Normal? And is it normal to feel instense aching one day, nothing the next day? I was on a 2 month bed rest after my myomoctomy- so working and driving after 2 weeks seems to be totally pushing it. If you feel pain- SIT DOWN and rest. I suspecting you needed to be on bed rest for the 3 weeks until your appointment- then you'd probably be told if you need more or they would release you to work. I fear you shouldn't be at work. I had to get a written permission slip from my doctor first.

3) While my scar is fading, there is a couple weird dips from my belly to my pelvic area, which I assume are there because of swelling, but I am hoping they will go away. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what to expect in terms of appearance in the next couple months? In the next couple months it will fade- unless there is an infection etc. They will check it at that 3 week appointment. Call the doctor if it is red, painful or has anything gooping out of it.

4) I have been doing some light activities, dishes, laundry -- this is okay, right? Again- I was on bed rest for 2 months- no cleaning nothing. It is major abdomonial surgery.

5) Any suggested exercises? NONE Again...call your doctor. I wouldn't do anything to damage yourself. I wasn't able to exercise for 10 months. or TTC for 10 months. So you really need to get these questions answered ASAP.

Please call your doctor and let me know what he/she says about all of this. Good luck with everything- rest and take care of yourself.
