Default Re: Linda Hirshman Says SAHM's Are Wrong

Hirshman was named number 77 on Bernard Goldberg's list of 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America.

Measured against these time-tested standards, the expensively educated, upper-class moms will be leading lesser lives.
I tend to think that the whole lesser lives thing is subjectable. What one might see as lesser, another one would find preferable.

Hirshman argues that Klett's children would be fine if she worked outside the home. Statistically there is no difference in the happiness levels of the children whose mothers work and the children whose mothers stay at home, she said.
I didn't know this, but I tend to agree with it. I do think that a major reason *most* parents stay at home is for their own reasons. I think children whose parents work are usually happy adjusted children. I know my oldest dd prefers me to be home. She enjoys not having to do a daycare of after school program. I'm sure that will change as she gets older though, and won't want me around as much. I don't plan on staying home forever though, for right now, it is working for us.
