I tend to think that the whole lesser lives thing is subjectable. What one might see as lesser, another one would find preferable.

I didn't know this, but I tend to agree with it. I do think that a major reason *most* parents stay at home is for their own reasons. I think children whose parents work are usually happy adjusted children. I know my oldest dd prefers me to be home. She enjoys not having to do a daycare of after school program. I'm sure that will change as she gets older though, and won't want me around as much.
I don't plan on staying home forever though, for right now, it is working for us.
