We're the same way here...my 3 yr old is very eager and willing to learn to pray on his own at bedtime when it's just me putting to bed. But if we ask him to say the prayer on the food, he totally refuses. Totally normal. My older kids, who are 9, 13, and 15 never refuse, so I keep telling myself he will grow out of it!
