Default Re: Did you cosleep in the hospital?

With my first the hospital was VERY good, and insisted that we do some kangaroo time while we were there, so whenever Shaun fell asleep it was either naked on his dad's bare chest, or naked and under the hospital gown against my chest. They were perfectly fine with cosleeping, breastfeeding, rooming in, and all of that. My second and third were at a new hospital, where they "said" no cosleeping, but were okay with it as long as they didn't come in and see the baby anywhere but on the mother's chest. However, DS 2 went to the nicu an hour after being born, so the first 2 nights I slept with DH squeezed into the hospital bed with me because I needed the comfort, and then when Trent was out of the nicu, he usually slept propped up on a pillow between my feet. Katrina slept in her bassinet whenever I was asleep, but when she fell asleep during the day I kept her in bed with me.

None of my hospitals would allow you to carry the baby and walk the halls, they had to be in the bassinet if you were up and walking. They also wouldn't let me walk to the doors to leave, they insist on a wheel chair. With my last one it was really silly, because I had been walking down to the nicu (on a different floor) a few times every day the last 2 days of my visit because Katrina was taken down there.

All of my babies slept with me at least part of their sleep time from day one.
