Default Re: Do all babies who sign have a delay in verbal development?

Hi! From a research perspective, no- there are not verbal delays associated with signing. Anecdotally, no delays with dd. She signed "more" at 8 months & spoke her first 2 words at 9 months. At age 2, she had 50 words & now at 27 months puts 2-5 together in phrases & sentences.

It could be a perspective thing- the kids who are signing are so expressive non-verbally that it can make their verbal skills seem lacking in comparison. There is such a wide range of *normal* speech development that it can be tough to judge.
