Icon5 Newbie - Pls. Help! - Balboa Hopsital and other stuff.

Hello! I am new here and so glad to see such a site dedicated to military people.

I guess I am just trying to get some "starter" info. To give you some background, I have not had a period in almost a year. My horomone levels checked out okay and I had a pelvic ultrasound. My GYN has already put me through 3 cycles of Progesterone to induce bleeding and I have not responded. It is obvious I am not ovulating, but she mentioned something about my ovaries being resistant?

She is referring me to a Fertility Specialist now. However, the dr. is not a Tricare Provider (there really aren't any in the directory except for the Balboa clinic). She praised this dr. up and down saying he was "wonderful". I am going to see if Tricare will approve it, but kind of doubt it. She strongly suggested that I go to this clinic and pay out of pocket for the initial consultaion, at least. I tried calling Balboa, as well - on the recording it warned that, after the initial consultation, it can take up to 6 mos. to get an appt. My husband is about to go on work-up onboard a ship for work-ups(gone 2 weeks, home 2 weeks, etc) for six months before he deploys in March for 6 mos.. That makes time an issue.

I wanted to find out if any of you have used Balboa. My GYN said that it would be "yucky" to use a military dr.. Gee, thanks! My other question lies with how much Tricare does pay for? I mean, if he just give me Clomid - I would think I could pay for the consultation and Clomid. It is after that that concerns me. But, then I also read, that Tricare does not pay for Invitro. So, should I even be factoring that in. Do they cover enough of the other stuff to (testing, drugs, etc.) to warrant me going through them?

Also, Anyone with my experience of not responding to Progesterone?

Sorry to ask so many questions!!! Thanks in advance.
