Hi Bilinda,
My father-in-law is doing ok. Thanks for asking. He is being pushed quite a bit at the rehab center and is making some progress. But its going to be a long haul. He has the determination and drive, so I have every confidence that he will have a good outcome. His mental abilities are still sharp its just a matter of the brain making new pathways I suppose so that he can communicate as he used to. Same with his limbs. It will be a slow process, but I really feel confident in him. Mark is still pretty shaken, but he is beginning to come around. He is still grieving the loss of the man he used to know as his father. But I keep reminding him that his dad is still with us and can communicate and eventually will get some of his momentum back with a lot of hard work. Its hard for me to see Mark so broken up like this. I lost my own father to something years ago and Mark was there for me and we both realize now what the other had gone through and is going through. Its quite a time.
Mark has this Friday off and will be making the trip to go visit his father again. I think it will do him good. I would go too, but I have to work and have a doctors appt. Plus the travel the last time bothered me a bit. Its about a 2 hr drive from where we live and I was getting some cramping last time. I was fine when I got out of the vehicle and walked around, but during the bumpy drive I was uncomfortable. My docs warned me against travel now and I think I will heed their warning.
How is your brother-in-law doing? My father went through a quadruple bypass and did very well. That was a very long time ago... getting close to 20 years ago now. He licked the heart condition, its cancer that got him in the end. Its amazing what the doctors can do for heart patients now days. The hardest part for us as I remember was after the surgery, seeing dad hooked up to all those machines in ICU, unconscious still and very very cold and pale. Of course, that was very soon after the surgery. Afterwards, as I said, he did very well. Responded well and felt very much better. He was about 56 at the time.
Its misty and overcast here as well. Doesn't do much for the moral, does it? DH and I are hoping to get out this weekend and do a little Christmas shopping. That'll help my spirits if I make some headway!
Got good news.... looks like my second crib has finally been shipped from the warehouse. I'm hoping to receive it early next week. Then maybe I can start putting the nursery together. Still waiting on delivery of my curtain though. That is still slated for Dec 6th. Everyone wants to see pictures of the nursery, but I don't want to do that while its still a work in progress. I'm just as eager as family and friends to see the finished project. Its been years that I've been dreaming of this. I can't believe its finally in the works and there will actually be babies in that room. A dream come true. I thank the good Lord!
Well, I should be going.... hope you have a great weekend if I don't hear from you before.
